The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels will serve as the alternative venue for OneLife LA this Saturday, January 18, due to the impact of the wildfires on the communities of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. with OneLife community partner organizations and service agencies offering service opportunities and other resources on the Cathedral Plaza. The speaker and performance program will begin at 2 p.m. The program will include testimonials from victims of the fires and reflections on the impact of the emergency on groups at risk like those facing homelessness and in the foster care system.
The annual walk for life prior to the program has been canceled out of an abundance of caution for health concerns due to poor air related to the ongoing fires and to alleviate any need for city or law enforcement support normally required for a large walk that usually draws tens of thousands in attendance. The event will culminate with the annual Requiem Mass for the Unborn celebrated by Archbishop José H. Gomez at 5 p.m.

January 15, 2025 Update:
Dear OneLife LA Family,
Considering the devastation of the recent wildfires and the struggle and pain that has impacted the people of Los Angeles, we decided to modify our OneLife LA event location and schedule for Saturday, January 18, 2025. The event will now be entirely at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels without the walk portion to alleviate any law enforcement and safety personnel that would have been required for such a large-scale event. By moving the event to Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, we will provide a sacred space to gather as communities across Southern California, united in prayer and mission.
It is evident the people of God are resilient and faithful. This year at OneLife LA we will once again testify to the beauty and dignity of all human life. We will experience and celebrate this year’s theme: Let Us Stand Up Together. We stand together in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who have been affected by the wildfires. We stand together in hope, knowing that the Lord holds us and desires healing and renewal for our lives. We stand together for the unborn, the family, the poor and vulnerable, the sick, the elderly, and the marginalized. Let us continue to pray for our sisters and brothers who have lost loved ones, their homes, and/or their businesses and for the emergency personnel fighting the fires to protect lives. Let Us Stand Up Together in Hope, trusting the Lord will bring about restoration to our communities.
