The Latino Theater Company's production of “La Virgen de Guadalupe, Dios Inantzin,” is a pageant play celebrating the miracles of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Those unable to attend in person are invited to a live broadcast will be presented on friday, December 1, 2023 at 7:30pm.

On Thanksgiving day morning between 7am - 10:30am, our streets will be occupied with thousands of athletes running 5Ks and 10Ks to raise funds for the Midnight Mission. Every Thanksgiving at the Cathedral, we express our gratitude for the many blessings in our lives through our participation in the annual Outreach Food Drive.This year we will be assisting the Sisters Poor of Jesus Christ and the Friars Poor of Jesus Christ with their Downtown Skid Row Street Ministry. We invite you to honor your deceased loved ones by placing a framed photo of them on the Cathedral’s Dia de los Muertos altar located in the south ambulatory, from Thursday, October 26, to Thursday, November 9. Please do not use any original copies of photos, and the frame must not exceed 5x7 size.
We invite you to lift up in prayer your beloved dead and allow all of us to pray for them as well. For a donation of any amount, we will include the names of your loved ones, now resting in the arms of their Savior, in our Book of Remembrance. The Book of Remembrance will be kept, throughout the month of November, in the Cathedral Chapel of the Dead in the South Ambulatory of the Cathedral, and we will pray for those included in the Book of Remembrance at all of the Masses during the month. Pope Francis today appointed four local priests as new auxiliary bishops for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The appointments were announced Tuesday morning by the Holy See’s press bulletin and in a notice from Cardinal-designate Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States. The four bishops-elect were scheduled to be introduced at a press conference at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
Effective July 1, we will have an Associate Pastor! Archbishop Gomez has appointed Father Michael Mesa as the new Associate Pastor of the Cathedral. I am happy to have a brother priest who will be able to work closely with me to enhance the liturgical and spiritual life of the Cathedral. I am very grateful that the Archbishop has chosen him for this particular role. Many of you may know him as he was actually a seminarian from the Cathedral.
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles stands for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which means we stand against any form of bigotry, hate, or sacrilege. In response to the June 16th Dodgers event honoring a group accused of mocking the Catholic faith and making light of our religious sisters, the archdiocese calls on faithful to pray special prayers on that day, specifically the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at Mass or during a Holy Hour with the Blessed Sacrament.

Love to sing? Audition for the Cathedral's Children's Chorus on Sunday June 11 or Monday, June 12. Open to all Children 3rd to 8th grade, the Chorus will have opportunity to sing at various Masses and Events at the Cathedral throughout the year. The Cathedral campus will be closed on Monday, April 10, 2023, in observance of Easter. There will be no 7AM Mass and no live stream of the noon Mass. The Café, Gift Shop, and Parish offices will be closed on this day so that staff can enjoy a day of rest as we celebrate the Resurrection of our Savior. The Cathedral Church, Mausoleum and Parking structure remain open during our regular hours of operation.
You are invited to visit an exhibit honoring the life, ministry, and legacy of late Auxiliary Bishop David O’Connell now open to the public inside the Cathedral. The chapel, located in one of the niches in the cathedral’s south ambulatory, features photos of O’Connell throughout his life, as well as personal items such as handwritten notes, Bible, rosary, books of jokes, and more. “We have made a beautiful, prayerful chapel to our beloved friend. I hope many will be able to come and celebrate the life of Bishop O’Connell, which was truly a life lived for Jesus,” said Archbishop José H. Gomez, who was on hand to dedicate the chapel on March 17.
Works of art focused on spirituality from 60 students of 12 Catholic high schools throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles are on display at the Art Chapel inside the Cathedral. The annual Robert Graham Memorial Student Art Exhibit opened on March 19th with a special blessing by Archbishop José H. Gomez, who also presented students with certificates. The 38th running of the Los Angeles Marathon takes place on Sunday, March 19, 2023. The Cathedral is the sixth landmark on a course starting from Dodger Stadium and finishing on the Avenue of the Stars. Access to the Cathedral will be limited due to street closures. | Click to download access pass
The Stations of the Cross take place every Friday of Lent, at 11:30AM. It will begin in the sanctuary of the Cathedral. The Stations of the Cross are a 14-step Catholic devotion that commemorates Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man. The 14 devotions, or stations, focus on specific events of His last day, beginning with His condemnation. The stations are commonly used as a mini pilgrimage as the individual moves from station to station. At each station, the individual recalls and meditates on a specific event from Christ's last day.
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles announced today the funeral services for Bishop David G. O’Connell, Auxiliary for the San Gabriel Pastoral Region of the Archdiocese. Services will take place on three days, with the first taking place at the San Gabriel Pastoral Region on at 7PM on March 1, 2023. Public viewing will take place on March 2, 2023 at the Cathedral followed by a Vigil Mass at 7:00PM. The Funeral Mass will take place at 11AM on Friday, March 3, 2023. Click for details.
