Works of art focused on spirituality from 60 students of 12 Catholic high schools throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles are on display at the Art Chapel inside the Cathedral. The annual Robert Graham Memorial Student Art Exhibit opened on March 19th with a special blessing by Archbishop José H. Gomez, who also presented students with certificates.
The exhibit is named after the late Robert Graham, a Mexican-born American sculptor of international fame who was based in Los Angeles. He died in 2008 and left behind a legacy in Catholic art, having created the Great Bronze Doors of the Cathedral among other notable public art displays. Since 2017, this program is curated by Noriko Fujinami, member of Fine Arts Committee for the Cathedral and Robert Graham Studio Director.
The art exhibit will run for approximately two and a half months and celebrates the value that Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our Church, communities and nation.
