The Virgen de los Remedios 65th Canonical Coronation Anniversary Mass will be held at the Cathedral at 3:30 PM on Sunday, September 26. Bishop Marc V. Trudeau, Auxilliary Bishop for San Pedro Region will preside over this Mass that celebrates five hundred years of Christianity in the Philippines. Fr. Rodel Balagtas, priest liason for the Filipino ministry of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will concelebrate.
The Mass is open to the public and will be broadcast via live stream starting with the pre-procession at 3:00 PM followed by Mass at 3:30 PM.
About the Celebration: Numerous miracles and answered prayers are attributed to Virgen de los Remedios. The Kapampangan peoples turn to their mother in times of ideological threats, natural calamities and personal difficulties.
On September 8, 1956, Pope Pius XII bestowed the canonical crown to the revered image. In 2006, they brought the replica of Virgen de los Remedios with their annual celebration at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. A golden crown is presented to our Lady and entrusting her children in the hands of a loving mother.
