The 20th Annual Archdiocesan Black History Month will be held at the Cathedral at 5:00 PM on February 18, 2023.
This annual celebration brings together African American Catholics, members of the African Diaspora, and people from a wide variety of cultures to celebrate the contributions of African Americans to the Catholic Church and to American society. The Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop José H. Gomez. The Homilist is Reverend Ekwutosi Michael Ume, Pastor of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Pasadena. The Mass is sponsored by the African American Catholic Center for Evangelization (AACCFE).
Keeper of the Flame Award:
The Keeper of the Flame Award will be presented by Archbishop Gomez
to participating Parish Honorees who have Kept the Flame of Evangelization
burning in their individual Parishes.
