All Souls' Day Solemn Vespers

On November 2, we celebrate the Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed, also known as All Souls’ Day. It is a centuries-old tradition in Western Christianity to pray for the faithful departed and for the families who mourn their loss.

At 6:30pm, we will gather in the Cathedral to pray vespers, also known as evening prayer, to sanctify the day by praising God and offer intercessions for our needs and those of the whole world. During vespers, there will be an opportunity for you to light a candle as a prayer offering to God, and in remembrance of family and friends who have gone home to their eternal rest.

Following vespers, we will process to the Mausoleum, led in song by the Cathedral Schola, during a time of personal visit with loved ones.

On this day, the Mausoleum hours will be extended to 8:00pm.
Parking is $12 flat-fee.

Book of Remembrance

We invite you to lift up in prayer your beloved dead and allow all of us to pray for them as well through our All Souls Book of Remembrance. 

Chapel of the Dead

We invite you to also honor your deceased loved ones by placing a framed photo of them on the Cathedral’s Dia de los Muertos altar located in the south ambulatory, from Thursday, October 26, to Thursday, November 9. Please do not use any original copies of photos, and the frame must not exceed 5x7 size.
