In the words of Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk, the head of the Ukrainian Catholic Church:
“The Church is with its people…. The Church of Christ brings the Eucharistic Savior to those who are experiencing critical moments in their life, who need the strength and hope of the resurrection.”
Friends, let us gather, in person or virtually, as a Eucharistic family here at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels and remember our brothers and sisters in Ukraine who themselves are unable to gather. Let us not simply stand by, watching the violence, suffering and death from afar, rather, let us reach out in loving support for “those who are wounded, for those who are discouraged, for the refugees who are on the roads….”
“In times of trouble, we call on the tender mercy of God…to guide our feet to the way of peace. (Luke 1:78-79)”
– Archbishop José Gomez
We invite you to lift our suffering brothers and sisters in prayer, and for a donation of any amount, we will light a candle as an expression of that prayerful support. Let us fill the Cathedral with the light of our love and solidarity during this dangerous time of crisis.
We invite you to offer your pray petition and have a candle lit in solidary with our Ukrainian brothers and sisters. As our Cathedral priests light your candle, they will pray for both you and your intention. All donation proceeds will be sent to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith in Ukraine.
