Standing in the midst of downtown Los Angeles, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels serves the total Archdiocese of over 5 million Catholics. As the heart of all 287 Parish Churches and communities, it is the place where the Archbishop celebrates the major Liturgies of the year with clergy, religious and laity.

The Cathedral serves as a "model Church for all Parish Churches" in the style and content of its liturgical celebrations. In design, art and furnishings, the Cathedral is rich in cultural diversity in a city in which Sunday Mass is celebrated in 42 different languages. St. John's Seminary Diaconate Ordination Mass 2017

On Saturday August 12th Bishop Brennan will ordain 11 seminarians from St. John's Seminary to the Sacred Order of Deacon at the Cathedral. Blessed Monseñor Oscar A. Romero Centennial Mass

The Life & Legacy of Blessed Monseñor Oscar Romero celebrated in a special Centennial Mass
Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017 at 12:30pm
Celebrate the life and legacy of Blessed Archbishop Oscar Romero at the Cathedral this Sunday, Aug. 13 during the Spanish 12:30pm Mass. The Mass, to be celebrated by Archbishop Gomez, commemorates the 100th birthday anniversary of Blessed Romero. Born on Aug. 15, 1917, Blessed Romero was ordained a priest at the age of 25 in 1942. In the late 1970s he became a voice for the voiceless, as thousands were being killed or were disappearing monthly across the civil war-torn nation. He has since become a beloved martyr and was beatified on May 23, 2015.

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN
The Cathedral is offering an eight-session Adult Confirmation Preparation Process. It is open to baptized Roman Catholics who have celebrated their First Communion, are 18 years and older and for whatever reason, have not celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation. Egren Gomez

Cathedral Seminarian to celebrate first Mass as Deacon on Sunday August 13th
Saturday, August 13, 2017 (all Masses)
Our prayer for vocations bears its first fruit here at our parish. It is with great joy and thanksgiving to almighty God that we announce that our homegrown seminarian, Egren Gomez, will be ordained a Deacon on Saturday August 12th and will celebrate his first Mass as a Deacon on Sunday August 13th. Many of you have been following, praying and supporting Egren, and we thank you and invite you to celebrate this joyful occasion at any one of the Masses that day: 8:00 am, 10:00 am or 12:30 pm (Spanish). Egren will preach for the first time as a Deacon at the 8:00 am and 10:0 am Masses. Please join the Cathedral community in prayer as Egren takes this important step in his journey to the Sacred Priesthood.

7th Annual Grand Marian Procession & Votive Mass for the Feast of Our Lady of the Angels

In early September of 1781, a band of settlers founded their new town: El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles. Since then, Angelenos have sought the aid and protection of the Blessed Mother for what has become a great, yet often challenged, city. On Saturday, August 26, 2017, a Votive Mass at the Cathedral and grand Marian Procession through downtown Los Angeles will be held to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Angels, to aid and protect our City and County which all bear Our Lady's name. | Click for event schedule & flyers

Annual Celebration of Cultures Mass: "A Communion of Communities"

This annual event, coordinated by the Office of Ethnic Ministries, celebrates the vast cultural diversity of the Catholic Church of Los Angeles, and the unique gifts that different ethnic groups bring. Fallen LAFD Kelly Wong’s influence was on full display Friday outside the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels as numerous firetrucks from San Francisco to Las Vegas lined the nearby streets in his honor.
